Theo Fox: What's the Plan? A light-hearted (and maybe angering) inquiry of what the Blackhawks roster would look like right now if Kyle Davidson wasn't the general manager leading the franchise through a rebuild.

The BOD villagers if Stan still helmed the team...

Would Colliton still be coach? Would Danny Wirtz have decided it was time for a new GM and would we be seeing a GM like Marc Bergevin now calling the shots?

Wow, so many questions, feel like I'm being interrogated by the Spanish Inquisition

But seriously, I can't wrap my head around the insanity (doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result) that Stan's time had come to.

I was a supporter for a long time, not embracing the rebuild after you publicly announce it, was maddening.

I generally liked Bowman's tenure but I thought even for the last few years, something needed to change.

I do think the rebuild was scuttled by Upper Management when the Beach affair was coming to a head. Only thing that makes sense to me in terms of Stan doing a 180 on the rebuild. He seemingly had the trust of Danny Wirtz and his job didn't appear in jeopardy.

Maybe the Wirtz's thought fielding a winning team would help quell some of the public disapproval when the Beach story was released. Then of course...they didn't win for I think all of October which made things worse.

Had a rebuild gone ahead under Stan, maybe the Jones deal never happens and they keep their picks. The Dinky and Dach trades probably don't happen.

Riechel may have been rushed to the parent club and been up all season.

Idk, I don't mind the end result with Stan no longer calling the shots but don't really care for the how and why it came to be.

Like you I was a Stan supporter for a long time. But the Seth Jones deal was the last straw. I had said for more than two years that Stan should base all of his decisions on how they affect the team in the summer of 2023. With the Toews, Kane, Keith, Debrincat, Connolly rolling off the books and T. Johnson's contract probably movable with only 1 year left the Hawks would have cap room and flexibility. They also would have had the #12 draft pick in 2021, the #6 draft pick in 2022, probably a top 3 pick in 2023 and 2024.

I thought SB was managing to save his job, but I think you might be more right than me with this post. I often said SB had the toughest job in town and I do think I was right about that. And the way he bailed seems to support me. Either way a rebuild was going to have to happen. I'm not sure anyone likes the Seth Jones trade, but if he can be a mentoring kind of guy to all young D men (and not just his brother) that would be nice but I'll have to see it to believe it. Trading him probably would be a lot nicer. He's no Seabrook.

Isn't it unfair to compare S. Jones with Seabrook unless or until he had a HOF defenseman as his partner? You are right S. Jones is no Seabrook, but Seabrook would not be Seabrook without Keith.

I'd rather talk about the future instead of the past.

Landon Slaggert with a goal and an assist in last night's USA 5-1 victory over Germany. Dominic James with a helper.

Canada plays tonight. Del Mastro the only Hawk prospect on the team.

That's fair. Jones had the Wrench in Columbus backing him up, not the other way around. That's why I questioned Jones as a mentoring kind of guy.

It's really guess work to figure out where the program would be if Bowman was here. We can re-debate it all again, how responsible was Bowman for the Cup runs, was he just in the right place at the right time with the right name, or how he got a raw deal from the "BOD".

In the end, whether or not the Beach scandal is what lead him out of town, he took a program that was at the top and it systematically collapsed. His fanclub never seemed to hold him at all responsible for the demise while unconditionally laying accolades at his feet for being GM during 3 Cup runs. Just as players who can't get it done get fired, coaches get fired, GMs also have their shelf life. His came due.

While I thought the Cat trade was crap, Davidson's agenda is the correct one, rebuild it from the ground up, stay on path. Unlike Bowman, Davidson has virtually no talent on hand to work with so whatever happens over the next 5 years (good, bad or mediocre) will be 100% on Davidson and the debates will be wanting. As far as the Cat trade, I hated it, still do and there is NOTHING wrong with fans expressing frustration with what they see as a bad move. That said, if these picks turn out and eventually become part of a new core, Davidson will and should be given total credit for making a tough trade and then correctly identifying the proper players to move on. Time will tell on this one.

I think the only thing in question is how long should this take? I think we need to see real progress by year 3 and legitimate contender by year 5.

KD has signed 2022 1st round pick, and 7th overall, Kevin Korchinski to a 3 year ELC with a $950,000 AAV.

The timing of this deal is questionable. Did KD really need to sign Korchinski now????

I agree his time came due and have said as much but the part about his “fan club” not holding him accountable doesn’t really hold water.

You’re welcome to your opinion even though you’ll likely blast me for mine because I have the audacity to give Stanbo credit for at least two of the three Cups.

As long as you keep complaining about people complaining about people who complain about the Hawks, all will be right in Hawkeytown.

950K is the new entry level contract maximum. It will increase to 975K, then 1M maximum over the next few years.

I assume there will be the typical "A' and "B" bonuses included in the contract also.

There was red font all over that one Boiler, but appreciate the info on rookie deals nonetheless.
